HORSES HEALING GRIEF
MINI DAY CAMPS
What are they?
Children have unique needs when processing their grief after the death of a loved one, and horses have a unique ability to assist them in processing their grief. Children and caregivers spend a half day on a quiet horse farm with other families who have experienced similar losses. Horses comfort and help children and adults understand life after a loss. Children K-8 who have experienced the death of a loved one can attend these camps. Teens camps are also available for Jr. High-High Schoolers. Fees include the cost of adult participation.
What will I do?
Children: Children’s groups include a time of meeting other kids who have had a loved one die, followed by a planned horse activity, and ending up with free time during which kids get to enjoy the horses and the farm in any way they choose.
Adults: Adult caregivers are required to be on the premises, and are invited to take part in separate adult group activities at the same time, designed to help adults better understand the needs of grieving children. Snacks and expressive arts round out the time.
